I logged on this morning after a startling realization — it’s been over 6 months(!) since I last posted. As you might expect, a lot has happened since then, so this will be a catch-up post of sorts, a compilation of everything that’s happened since March.
I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, so in that vein, here’s a bulleted list:
March/April 2022: Went to Spain (with Elliot, then my Mom) for Easter break
May 2022: My very first exam season (it went well!)
June 2022: A very busy month
June 3-5: London with Brendan for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations (hands down the best weekend of my life)
June 9-14: Norway with Elliot, after my exam season (but before his, which might not have been the best decision)
June 15-24: Kacie (my younger sister) came to visit the UK for the first time; we stayed in Durham, London & Edinburgh
June 20: John’s Summer Ball (a black-tie event hosted by St. John’s)
June 24-25: Kacie & I flew home; we missed our connection in London (the airline’s fault) and had to stay an additional night
July-August 2022: Came home for the summer holiday
August 15-26: Family road trip to the Great Lakes
September 2022:
September 16-19: Moved my flight up last-minute to see the Queen’s lying-in-state & funeral procession in London
September 20-: Moved into my new house (where I’m writing this right now); I’ve spent the last week or so settling in and gearing up for a successful second year!
Essentially, this is a list of the stories I owe you, and there are some pretty great ones on here :). I feel incredibly lucky to even have the opportunity to experience some of the things on this list, and I can’t wait to tell you about them in full.
I also wanted to apologize for how long it’s taken to write, and to say thank you. It means a lot that you keep reading these updates (even if posts are sometimes few and far between). Hope you’re doing well!
Thank you again for reading, and I’ll be back in your inbox soon! As always, a reply is always appreciated — I’d love to know if there are any particular stories on this list you’re interested in hearing.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Kaylyn
P.S. Some of you might know this, but my cooking experience is…severely lacking. Luckily, I’m getting a crash course this year, as living in a house means I’m responsible for every meal. Last night, I made rice, without a rice cooker, and meat for the first time (thus far it’s been lots of noodles)!
